My new wheels have just turned up....the blurb before I ordered said 52mm offset...front and rear but the wheels have now arrived and the box says 18x8.5 + 52 offset and 18x10 + 58 offset......how much differnce does this make tom the tires I fit......was planning 265s at rear....I know VERY little about wheels n stuff so need some help here....thanks

It should be actually better with 58 ET than with 52 since OEM ET for those rears is 65.

David,
For reference, my new 18" Turbo twists are 52mm front offset (8" width), and 65mm rear offset (10" width). The new tires are 225/40 front and 265/35 rear. The car looks perfect with this setup.

I'm not sure if the offsets you received will be a problem. Others will certainly chime in with real knowledge

Andreas

What Fin said...those will fit...the ET58 only moves the wheel out 1/3" of an inch and have less potential fit issues than the ET52. You can also go w/285 if you like if you want a more meaty look.

What wheels did you get? I love wheel ****!

David,
This might shed some light on how offset is measured:

I'm not so sure they'll fit. David- is your car lowered? What neg. camber do you have in the back? If you have a lowered car with stock alignment then I think it'll be close.

p.s. if you're lowered you'll never get 285 to fit.

They will fit, even if your car is lowered.

Talking The Other Eric and 285s?

My car is lowered with 2.5 degrees of negative camber in the rear. I have 285s on 18" wheels with the 65mm off set, they fit just fine no rubbing. Perhaps it is because of the negative camber....mine is a narrow body car.

On to another note...some folks prefer the 265/35/18 to the 285/30/18 as they feel the 35 series gives a slightly better ride....a while back, I did move down to the 265/35/18s for this reason.

I now have a set of 285/30/18 on the Mille Millia wheels. As mentioned above the fit is fine, no rubbing.

I am going to put these 18" wheels up for sale in a few days...I have had them less than a month. They were an impulse buy from a fellow Rennlister.

In addition to the diagram Andreas posted, you can get an idea of how much your inboard or outboard clearance will change using an offset calculator - here's one www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp. Also keep in mind that tire profiles differ among manufacturer and that difference can result in effective widths as large as 20-25cm

and if you want to roll the fenders and are gunshy about using the oldschool method, you can rent a tool....fender rolling party anyone?!? http://www.purems.com/products/descr...9&CA=408&PA=10

Eric,

My C2 is about as low as you can go and still be able to turn the wheels and a 285 MPSC will definitely fit. Hell, I think I can get a 295 to squeeze in back there and will give it a try next year or after the CMP or Roebling race.

David in LA,

Again, thanks for all of your help.

I'm currently running 295 MPSC's in the rear of my C2 on the stock 10 inch hollow spoke with the 65mm offset. Oh yeah, I just got a set of Hoosiers in 305/30-18's and they fit!!!!! It is on a set of 10.5 inch Forgelines with a 56mm offset.

I know a guy locally selling some barely used 295 Pilot PS2s, I was wondering if these would fit on my 10" rears... hmm....
