A car is meant to drive. Granted I only drive my 95 C4 993 when the weather is nice and not snowing or raining, I still drive it a fair amount. Since I have 3 vehicles (Ford Explorer, 77 Ford Bronco Sport, 95 C4 993) and work out of the house most of the time, I drive based on weather and what mood Im in. Snow its the Explorer, warm non windy days the 77 Bronco Sport (have the top off now) and when I feel covering some ground and have a little fun, the 993. Road trips, the 993 all the way.

I also drive my 993 everyday. I bought a very cherry Targa. The owner kept it in pristine condition... for me to drive everyday. I bought it with 36k miles. Currently, it has 43k on it. Every morning and every afternoon I get to drive on a 5 mile stretch of the twistist road you can imagine. Talking turns at 40 mph, when 20 mph is "recommended" wakes me up each and every morning. The top slides down on cool nights, making the experience that much greater. I want to drive the wheels off the car. I love it. The more I drive it the more I like it. It is by far the best car I have ever owned. My only problems is an electrical gremlin that I'm trying to track down.

Steve,
Nice meeting you at Hershey! If my cable guy showed up in a C4S, I'd have to break out a six pack. I certainly agree with you about these cars. This is the first one I've owned I like better today than the day I purchased it.
Best wishes,
Shawn

Hey Steve -
Nice write up . . . nothing beats the 993 IMHO. Glad to hear its doing the job through that ever difficult search for another '01 740i. I'm sure it will happen when you least expect it.

"I just shopped yesterday at Eatzies and packed the entire car with food in every nook and cranny"
my 993 is my only car and when i go grocery shopping i usually put the bags in the back seat and then secure them by buckling them in with the seat belts

My biggest regret was not putting too many miles on my previous car 84 RUF frorm the factory.
I put less than 5K in 13 years. When I sold it, the only thing that bothered me was that the guy who bought drove it to California from here in Florida. He actually enjoyed that car in 4 days more than I had in 13 years!
Since then I swore no more garage queens! My current 993 is getting 1K/month~!

It's been my daily driver and only vehicle for 3 years now. I'm High Mileage Queen at 117k miles. I can haul my dog, two bikes, my boyfriend, and luggage for the weekend. What else could I possibly want for?

When I work, I work from home and it is great to take a break and just drive through the many country roads we have in Northwest NJ....mostly horse farms and wooded country. Reminds me of my first 8-10 years of Porsche ownership when the p-car was my only car. There was a time when I moved from one apt to another and only needed to make two moving trips because of the stereo speakers! I think I'll go out for a ride now...mmmm, 70 degrees and sunny on November 4th!

It is so nice to hear all of these stories about people using their 993s as daily drivers. I just (last week) purchased my very first Porsche. A 1997 993 C2 with 43k miles. I traded my 2005 MINI Cooper S for it, and it will be my daily driver.
