My 993 Coupe was vandalized recently, a brick was thrown through the right door window. The culprit removed some personal items from the inside of the car. I purchased a used replacement window from Oklahoma Foreign and had a local glass outfit install it. A couple of weeks later the driver door switch that controls the right window failed. The right door switch continued to operate the window properly. A couple of weeks later the right switch also failed. I purchased two new OE window switches. I installed them and tested the operation before I pushed them into the door panel. I tested them again after pushing them in the panel. Now neither switch works. I'm back to square one. A guy at the local import shop things there is a sychronization issue relative to the motor and the glass that was missed when the glass was replaced. Does anyone concur or have experience in this area?
All I can add is that both switches need to be functional for the window to work. You might try swapping one out at a time and replacing it with the drivers door switch to see it you might just have a bad switch. It happened to me and made the job a lot easier to just replace the broken switch.
Good luck.
I had one go bad this weekend. Glad it was the passenger window and it was in the UP position.
Guess the wife won't mind if I buy one + a spare.
Could you have touched the wires togather and have a blown fuse or relay?
Craig, all the windows are on the same fuse so if one works then the fuse is OK. I think I need a wiring diagram to crack this nut. Anybody got one for a 97 993 Coupe??
I did have a window motor fail on the driver's side... Bought & installed replacement. It was like $130 & a PITA, but not undoable. I don't think there was any particular trick to "aligning" the window or anything, just get it together right; but then again I did not remove the window.
Aren't there a couple of limit switches and a force limiting switch in each door? Perhpas one of these or its connection was damaged during the installation of the new glass?
