I would search all over the car to find that sucka because I cant imagine what it would be like looking at a set of new wheels in the garage to be installed (and photographed) and the only thing holding you back is the damn locking lug socket

I'm fairly sure that all tire shops have a kit that is specifically designed to brake the locks loose. I have had two cars that have needed to have the locks broken off. Once the key itself broke, and the other time the key was misplaced. On both occassions the rims were not damaged. Once the locks are off they are trash, but hey you get to take off your tires.

How about finding a socket that fits just a little "snugly" over the locking lug and tap it in place and then try and remove it?

Do not try to remove the lock with any MacGyverish methods. The top (round) portion of the lock is actually hollow inside and will rip off, leaving the actual wheel lock still on the car. Just take the car to the dealer.

Also, check under the hood on the option sticker, because the lock number is often written there. Just try not to look at the new wheels until you get the wheel locks off =).

Since you have the key number, just call McGard (716-662-8980) and they'll get a new key to you in a day or so (depending on how much you want to pay for shipping). I did regular UPS and got it in about 3 days. The total cost was like $30.
