Default Price check on tire install

If you bought tires online, what would you expect to pay a qualified shop to install and balance them? Thanks

Agreed, $20-$30 per wheel. There are places here in Chicago that try to charge $40 per. They can kiss my *&^%

Do those prices include a RoadForce balance, rather than a typical spin balance?

Recently did same....found out that some tire stores (Town Fair Tire chain) would not mount/balance tires bought elsewhere. NTB (National Tire & Battery, formerly NTW) charged an extra $ 15 each for "Difficult Wheel Charge" for 18" and over rims..... would have been $ 86 to mount and spin balance TWO ! And they did not even have a "nice" tire machine to risk damage.

Definitely call around and ask, be sure to mention you are bringing your own tires and tell them they are ___" diameter Porsche alloy rims - be sure you don't scare them away...

If you use Tire Rack, they have installers listed and there are also ratings from customers. Not sure if they list prices though.

It is worth the extra to me to use a good shop...I have had troubles with flakes before.....

Not all the installers listed on Tire rack will mount 18" tires. A few will also refuse to mount Porsche wheels. I just paid one of their recommended installers $140 to mount the Dunlops - yikes.

$20 per tire for me (18 inch)... Regular spin balance... They said next time, they would even order for me through tire rack since their local source cold not match Tire Rack's price.

A local dealership wanted $115 to mount two tires...

I went to an independent and he let me watch as he babied the rims.. $50.

Thanks everyone for clearing this up for me. The reason I asked is that I bought new 18" tires for my BMW and took them to a local shop for installation this morning. When they finished and I went to pay, the guy tells me that it is $130.

I have had many sets of tires mounted in the past and typically pay $15-$20 per. So I felt $130 was a bit steep and told them so. They reduced the amount to $90.

Prices vary widely in my area....from $15 to $35/wheel for 18s. Same quality equipment and balance, at shops within 15 miles of each other. The place i use charges $15 if you bring them the wheels, $20 if you bring them the car with the wheels on it.

I would be very careful with these run of the mill tire stores installing on our low profile 18" wheels. Good to know wheel enhancement is not too expensive.
