Default German OSRAMs vs STD high beam

For all those looking to match your HID low beams with whiter high beams, dont go the OSRAM german 55 watt bulbs there is so little differnce between them and the std lights that it is not worth it. I took pics but could see no diffrence so have not posted them. When you look at them with the naked eye you can see some difference but it is very very small.

I dont know what the originals were as I did not fit them and I can find no name on the bulb to tell me who manufactured it. The ones I have just put in were OSRAM Silverstar manufacturered in Germany for the European market....dont know if that helps kelly, sorry dont know who made the original bulbs

David,

I was asking about the bulbs you just put in. I have those very same bulbs, but in my lowlight position and I had them in before I installed my HIDs. When I first got them, I could tell the light was a bit whiter than the original OEM bulbs. I was pleased with the change. However, after I installed the 4300K HID kit in my highlights, these bulbs seem yellow in comparison. I think the problem is you are comparing them to the HIDs and not the original bulbs side by side. I do agree, though that they don't even come close to matching the color of the HIDs... which is why I have been considering another set of HIDs for the low lights.

Yeah, I might consider a second set of HIDs for my high beams

David,
I think Kelly is right-once you upgrade to HIDs all halogen light sources look disappointing. If you compare to standard H1 55w bulbs there is a slight improvement and you do get pretty good illumination beyond the reach of the low beam HIDs. We're just all spoiled by the Xenon output Also if you look at the Daniel Stern site it describes how the camera's auto exposure setting can make comparisons inaccurate.

Yeah, it is especially difficult because the HID's in low beam position make it almost impossible to see the difference when you change the bulbs out. I changed one side and then switched lights on, I could just about see a diffrence between the std and the OSRAMs in high beam position but after loooking for a minute or so I was nearly blind from the HIDs....man are they bright! Not sure where I will go from here, dont like the yellowness in comparison with the HIDs so it might mean a second set of HIDs.....but then I also have to find suitable white lights for my fogs!!!....oh well at least I can see where I am going now when I have my lows on, it was always a strain before.

Here comes a silly question:

How are the factory Litronics set up? Do they have HID bulbs for Hi & Lo, or just low?

55w. I almost never use them. I prefer to tilt my low beam up to the maximum. High beam doesn't bring much more "lux"!

Look at his other posts and you'll see his recommendation is not really an objective one...he used to spam this board quite often a few years ago. Plus his prices were on the expensive side and feedback from buyers was mixed.
