Default Immobiliser.

I am not liking the procedure I have to go through to start the car. Especially the wife. She is paranoid about stalling at a traffic light and having to relock and then unlock the car then wait for the light in the dash to go out and then push the button and then turn the key and hopefully it cranks. Can this immobiliser be turned off without disabling or affecting the functionality of the central locking / unlocking of the doors or the alarm?

Thanks
Ron

If you stall at a light you have I believe about 90 seconds before you need to do the lock/unlock thing. By then the light has turned red and you have even more time.

In the event of a stall, you don't need to go through that procedure at all........ just turn the key back to vertical and restart - no push of the button, no waiting.....

that is true.. as long as the key is still in the ignition, you just need to restart without removing the key...

Once the car has been started, the arming sequence will not begin until after the key has been removed from the ignition - regardless of time. A restart after a stall is no different than in any other car.

When at a DE, I leave the key in the ignition all day and never have to go through the lock/unlock stuff. Any other time, I just the lock the car when I get out (even in the garage), so it is really no big deal once in the habit.

same here.. I just leave the key in all day long.. to much a PITA to go through all that crap.. besides, I've never seen anyone trying to jump in my car and drive away at a DE anyway... (first they'd have to fit in my race seat.. LOL)

You folks keep mentioning "lock/unlock"... you don't need to do that anyway... just turn the ignition on, press the immobilizer button, watch the immobilizer warning light go off, and start the car.

...true BUT it doesn't always eliminate the alarm immobile thingy permantly...

My 97 ECU was redone and I wanted it eliminated.. but Steve told me it might or might not work.. In my case, It was eliminated for about 3 trys and then came back ..so I'm stuck with it....

I'm all new to this and should receive my car from Intercity lines Monday or Tuesday, I've done some searching and sounds like "leave the key in, when it's safe at home, Ax/DE ect....OR put the key in the ignition, turn until the dash lights up (on position), hit the immobiliser button & start the car. If you stall the car treat is as a normal car, turn ignition off and re-start the car.
If this is not the procedure... please let me know
Thanks, Rick
