Forgot one question in my other post. For the same 96 993 how do I know if I need the engine harness upgrade or if it has already been done?

What were some of the symptons requiring update? Was it a factory recall or an owner pay repair?

The engine harness was a recall. Therefore, Porsche should have a record of the work.

Call your local stealer.

 

The harness recall was predominately a recall for '95 911's. As I recall from the archieves 96 911's had very few recalls to replace harnesses. As Pierre mentioned check with PCNA if your planned 96 was included.

Lastly, you can do a search in achieves about wire harnesses to get more details. Normally, it caused severe electrical problems.

Ask your nearest dealer about the "W301" recall and give 'em 'yer VIN.
Mine was doing all early '96s regardless of whether any symptoms were exhibited.
