Default Need Steering Wheel Help - Too Fat & HANS doesn't help

Help Needed,

I tried a search and most steering wheel posts are for asthetics.

'96 993 TT with 4 spoke carbon wheel. 95% track use.

Problem:

I have short legs so my seat is hard mounted close to the steering wheel for proper heal/toe. The stock wheel has been alright but now with the HANS and my big stomach, it is hard to keep my hands fixed on the wheel under high speed tight turns.

Question: I need a steering wheel that is a smaller diameter. It would also be helpful if the steering wheel was mounted a little closer to the dash to give me some more room between my stomach/hans and the wheel.

Any mounting suggestions?

Any wheel suggestions?

Yeah....and some duct tape for my mouth.

If you still want the airbag, you can get a TechArt 320 or 340 mm. They are small and teriffic to hold. I have the 340mm mounted on my cabrio. Check out below my galery for pics.

On the race car I have the original momo steering wheel which I bought from Gert:

Both good solutions and yes I have a big stomach too LOL

What size is Gert's wheel? Doesn't MOMO make a similar wheel?

The wheel from Gert is a MOMO wheel. It has the script "Porsche"on the right because it was used by the cup cars. I'm pretty confident that MOMO has the same wheel without the script.
I think the wheel is about 340mm, I have not measured it, but I have zero problems driving with it in the race car with the full monty on.

I have Porsche motorsport wheel (made by MOMO and as Danny suggests, they make it without Porsche lettering and it's 1/2 the price but IMO 1/2 less cool also...).

I love it but problem with that wheel is it actually comes closer to you.

That can be modified by shortening the hub but with the stock hub, it will be about 40 mm closer.
Not a problem for me but could be for you guys with big "airbag"...

Anyone have a Momo Mod 78? It looks like I can get a 13" wheel with 40mm offset.

Chris beat me to it. That MoMo (I think it's the Monte Carlo) is great. I had that in my previous Carrera and I love the "feel" of the wheel. My only complaint with the MoMo 08 that I have now is that it takes me a bit further away from the dash, thus making it tricky to get a proper seating arrangement (leg stretch vs arm stretch).
