He may have a (relatively) ****e car, but at least he is one of the few people who can truthfully say: "My name is Michael Cain(e)".

I do have to admit that I work with a guy who owns an '05 Boxster S that would kill my 993. However, his S has an 3.8L X51 997 engine crammed in it, upgraded exhaust, modified intake, modified ECU, upgraded suspension, modified gearing, etc. It is a beast.

The thing that always cracks me up about comparisons like this is that a 10 second difference on a track like Nuber.... numerberbg... that big track in Germany is nothing. 18 minutes for a lap by a professional driver?!?!? Geez. For the vast majority of us common folk, we never, never ever never even come close to exploring the limits of the car on the street. For those of us who drive on the track in club driving events, unless you have gone through all of the levels and been instructing for years or actually do some door-to-door racing, you ain't hit the limits either (although you've got a quite better understanding of what those limits are).

So it's all a moot point, really. The performance is close.

And besides, anyone who's anyone knows that a real Porsche is a 911, anything else is just a Porsche with panties.

Hey, secretaries need sports cars too ya know.

And hairdresses.

Boxsters ARE cute....My WIFE has a red one.

So, MC is really ghetto racer's kid brother, right? High testosterone, and low common sense, with an unbelievable tolerance for self created grief.

Nah, not on my part. The Boxster is only collateral damage...he could have brought up any other car, as he well knows!

Don't think it's really about the Boxster. It's kinda like a UT-ex going to the campus at College Station and yelling "Aggies suck! Longhorns rock!" I'm sure the poacher will receive some choice words directed back at him personally, but there will be some trash directed at the UT school, too. Besides, I think there is some history with the poster that you and I aren't privy to.

The history if I recall correctly is that some time ago, he posted a link to his 993 and said something along the lines of "Hey I'm thinking of buying this car for $xx,xxx...what do you guys think?!?" After a number of responses that criticized the price and condition of the car (and some sleuthing that the car had a questionable history and was much less than perfect as advertised), it turned out that it was his "father's car" and he was putting it up for sale. Now he has stated at the beginning of this thread that it was his car all along. While some of the backlash on this post is a response to his general dissing of 993s in favor of 987s, I think more of the negativity is because the joke about porcupines and Porsches really does apply to some people.
