I'd forgotten that I'd started this particular thread! I do remember that it was following some other posts but I cannot quite recall the details. How time flies. I'm surprised that it has come back to life but am also pleased that it is bringing enjoyment and festive cheer to the forum.
Cheers,
David

The 993 was 65K new and held its price well while the 996 and 986 cars where around. But times are changing and people dont want a 10 year old 993 with the dated 80's interior and cassett tape holders, they prefer a better balanced and modern designed car. Have you ever sat in 987? I doubt it. I think the 993 days are numbered as a Porsche investment. The 997 and 987 will push your odd 993 prices down and down and down....

My lovely balanced mid engined 987S against your rear engined odd ball handling 993?
lets stop chit chating here and let the track do all the talking......
PS crap pic of the rsr above. I think that was rear-engined as well !!!

+1........My old 200hp 911SC never lost a single track position to a freakin' Boxter in over 5 years of track racing, and as a matter of fact my favorite race video of me shows me passing three Boxters on the outside of turn 8 at Willow Springs.
Boxters are Chic cars and suck for racing!
I'd love to take this putz on any track in the world, it's not the car that makes the best time, it's the best driver and judging by his replys he doesn't know his *** from a hole in the ground when it comes to Porsches.
Just because one can afford a 993 does not necessarily make one a 993 driver!

It's funny I thought about buying a used Boxer for my wife because the value was so low and she told me it looked like a mazda. I couldn't talk her into it, she would rather drive a mini-van....

Perhaps Mr Caine is the same lovely fellow I encountered at Brands last March on the Evo trackday? That particular fellow continually held up myself (in my fat-arsed, old technology, 80's interior, dodgy handling stone aged 911) and a fellow in a 997 S for most of the session. Persistently failing to move over (its a trackday, not a race) and then proceeding to overtake other (obviously lesser) cars through corners and the like.
If you are that chap - then you're a tosser mate and no mistake. And of courser, if you're not that chap - then guess what, you're most likely (on all evidence found here at any rate) still a tosser.
Its a shame because people like you (and him) give 986/987s a bad name.
