Smile 993 headliner

Hi
I recently bought my 1996 993 cabriolet. The headliner was drooping quite a bit just above the backrest. I took it to shop that does tops. First they said it can't be fixed. then they bought a replacement headliner but it had a zippered window detail and the headliner on my car was sewn in. The shop took the top off and altered the attachement to better fit into the frame. When I got the car back today - i noticed they top was droopy on top and they put tape on the rear window and it damaged it. Now they are ordering a new top. I am very frustrated that a simple headliner issue got so out of control. Now I am worried that the new top will not be attached properly.

My question is does anyone have any instructions or suggestions for putting on a new top. I am also wanting to get detailed photos of the a headliner that is intalled correctly - shown from an interior view toward the window's top/rear edge - and - a photo of the headliner with top in down position.

I appreciate any thoughts, suggestions, photos... thanks!!
Herb

Default droopy top

Hi
I need to ask another question. Does anyone know what would have caused the droopiness on the top during the reinstall? I did get a hold of a repair manual but it does not get into the details or adjustments.
thanks
Herb

Porsche tops are quite complicated, so much that this is a separate topic in the tech school. Most dealers have just one or two guys that they will let touch tops. It's one of those things that isn't hard to do, it's just hard to do right.

Thanks! We do have a new dealer in town.

This top is now ruined. A new top is coming in next week. Unfortunately, the shop does not have experience with this type of car. NOt sure how this will end up. I will post the results when the work is done.
