IIRC I got mine from RUF for $1,400 (discounted 10%). I'd say about $1,550 retail. $1k is a good price.
Do not know the age of the wheel on e-Bay. It still has the leather triangle horn-cover patch. Mine is now an aluminum button. Not that it matters to function. It's just looks.
Glad you are considering it. To me it's almost a must. If I have a RUF, I'd have as many RUF logo items as I can on my car. It will come back in resale, as the next buyer will appreciate that.

Yes, the "new style" Ruf wheel (alum insert) is $1350, and $1k for the old style is probably a "fair" price... not enough of a bargain to entice me now. I agree completely about adding all the Ruf parts... I have the CTR rear bumper, the Ruf dead pedal, and the a-piller fairings on the way.
