Boy I hate to see that. It does look like it held up well.

I hate seeing pictures like that. I hope the driver is okay and it's a good thing he had some safety equipment installed.

I was at BIR that day. The driver was not hurt. I'm not sure I would agree that the car held up well. If it wasn't for the rollbar the roof would have been totally crushed. It's a poster-child for safety equipment. Before the wreck it was one of the prettiest C4Ss I've seen.
BTW, I think it sucks when people publish pics of another person's wreck.

Yup, it makes me sick. I've started racing mine and pics like that really get to me. I only have a DAS bar in mine so it does make me feel a little better how much the bar helped. I will have a cage by the end of the year.

Did not mean to sound insensitive . Heck , I had goosebumps looking at the picture of the 17 cars piled up at the Brian Redman Invitational . Yet , things happen and we have to learn from them . What did I learn , even in a " controlled environment " , the laws of physics still apply .

Did that car have a roll bar or full cage? The A pillars held up really well if just a bar.

I actually think this is a good picture for people that track their cars without safety equipment to see. I just hate seeing other people's misfortune. The owner seemed like a really nice guy.
As for the rollbar, it really helped keep the roof up although the driver said it was pushed down on his helmet. The passenger side was worse. Probably down to eye level.
On a brighter note, it was a great day. The Carrera GT was beautiful if not fast on the track.

Hope the driver was ok.
On another note, here in Canada most people who goto the track don't have insurance (while on track). I really can't see how I could risk totalling a car (a dream car nonetheless) on a track and have no compensation for it. If you have a CGT and an f-car in your garage and your 993 is a beater track car, I guess I could understand. But for us poor working folk who just barely afford a p-car, I couldn't imagine taking the risk.
