What's a good cd changer to use with my CDR-220?
I believe I hav a CDR-220 in my car. It has only a single cd slot, no cassette. Anyone know if that's right. Anyway, I want to add a cd changer. Is it better to eBay off what I have and buy a whole new system or can I just add a changer in the trunk? What's a good way to go for under $200? Thanks.

I have the Porsche CDR-210 (single CD) in mine, w/10 CD changer in trunk. Works great because the CD changer controls are built into the CDR-210. It was already in the car when I bought it so I don't know whether or not the changer was original equipment.

I just added a CD-220 (cassette radio) and a CDC-3 6 CD player in the trunk. Paid $185 for the CD player on eBay. Great combo and big improvement over the CDR-210 I had.

Thanks guys. Looks like I'll just pick up a changer. But it'll have to wait, since I blew my car budget for the week on a nice Passport radar detector (blue display to match the 993) last night.

Rick,
Have you looked at using an iPod instead? That's what I have and love it. Only catch is that I have to control everything from the iPod. You could spend a little more and get a newer head unit with the iPod control unit. Besides having 1000 songs accessible, another benefit of the iPod is that my music collection travels with me.

www.dension-usa.com sells an iPod adaptor for the Porsche 220 radio. There are others as well (AAMPS I think) but I can tell you from personal experience that I will never carry CDs in my car or in a CD changer now that I am using my iPod in my car (along with a direct control Alpine head unit). The only reason why I didn't use the Dension adaptor is because my car had a 210 radio instead of 220.

Once you go Ipod, you never want to screw around shuffling cd's.
Rick, Becker makes an adapter that simply plugs into the blue changer slot on the back of your radio. You get a Y to RCA from radio shack and that plugs directly into your Ipod.

What are the differences between the CDR-210 vs. CDR-220? Is there an audible difference or simply the interface?
Thanks.
