Default Hard time getting Euro bumper. Is that typical?

Hi All,

I am having a very tough time getting an Erro bumper for my 95 C2 (ala RUF BTR). The local dealer shipped 4, and Bob tried once directly with Porsche NA - five strikes in all. They shipped the U.S. version, with bumperette cut-outs, turbo look with slanted under-sides, even a 996 GT2 bumper. Anything but a Euro 993 narrow body regular bumper.

Bpb said it is common that even when the box and part number match, the bumper can still arrive with the bumperette cut-outs. In the mean time, Bob just keeps reordering from PNA and hope that they get it right just one time. This has been going on for 6 weeks already. As such, the RUF is just sitting there.

Does anybody has a fool-proof way to order an Euro bumper and have the right part delivered? Also, is what I'm seeing normal?

Thanks for the help.

It's embarassing to ask, everything on his site starts with Pxxx etc. What P number do I start with a 95 993? Also, if he ships the wrong part, is it a major hassel to get it corrected given the part ships from Europe?

I ordered from Sunset Imports. They will let you know how long it will take (depends if they have one in the U.S. or not, at the time I ordered they said 4-5 were available). Mine took about 10 days total, and it was in perfect shape for painting. It was part #993-505-311-02-G2X. No bumperette holes.
You need to also order some trim pieces, the air intake and turn signals.

If I did this right, below is a picture of the new bumper mounted up.

That may be one way out. I just thought that if I can get an Euro bumper intact, why live with a bumper with built-in crack-joints. Of course I was not expecting such difficulty getting the Euro bumper here.

I got mine from Gert, it was easy and a pleasure to deal with him, and has been for numerous transactions since.

KTM,

Your -02 G2X is the turbo-look bumper. If you have a straight-on picture, you'll see the side lower corners are slanted and with slots facing downwards. The Porsche dealers shipped one of those already, and got returned. I cannot use this as I need to mount RS splitters where the slots are, so the bottom has to be flat and unslotted.

I talked to Sunset Porsche and confirmed the part number for the Euro bumper is 993-505-311-00-G2X (their catalog even has a picture of the part). Bob ordered that part, and the box and part-number sticker on the bumper both said 993-505-311-00-G2X. Unfortunately, it still has two bumperette cut-outs in it. That's where the frustration lies. Somehow, the QA is such that PNA packs the wrong part even when we gave them the correct part number. If that's the problem, even Sunset Porsche may not be able to ensure the correct part is in the box.

Glen,

I'll talk to Bob and get right back to you. If he has not re-ordered, this is the fool-proof way to get the right part. How much is the part, and you have it in-stock?

Thanks.

Looks like you may have a line on one. If not it's super easy to reach Gert via email or phone.
