Carnewal carries 996 stickshift ***** which will work on a 993. Perhaps the tip will work also? Might be worth contacting Gert at the address shown on his picture below.

You guessed it right, the 996 tips won't fit...however I switched it to the carbon fiber model, expensive but it looks/feels great IMO.

saw the 996 tip-shifter on a few 993's w/ the 3 spoke wheel upgrade. not sure if there's a "hack" for getting it to fit or not. together they look nice.

Tom........Thanks for the suggestion. I contacted Gert and his response was...

Hi Chuck,

I have never tried this before.

Perhaps with some modifications, it could be possible but this is something
that needs to be checked.

Regards,
Gert;

I'll keep asking around. It's a mod I would like to do.

Chuck, I am interested in looking into doing this too. Might be interesting to pick one up
cheap (?) from a dismantler and stare at it for a while. From the pictures, I can't see why
it couldn't be adapted to work...I agree, it would be a nice upgrade.

Yeah, then you could get tired of driving your Porsche in traffic every day and park it at home rather than drive it!

You're right. My 993 is a daily driver on the Los Angeles freeways. Makes the work commute much more fun. The Boxster S is more of a weekend / around town car. Once you master the tiptronic in manual mode it's not bad at all. The "automatic" mode is very poor. It'll dump you in 3 or 4 at 25 MPH. All the tiptronic really needs is another gear or two. Oh, and a 996 shift ****!

love my tip-cab in & out of traffic. guys who don't like it don't know how to drive it.
never drive it in auto... even in traffic. & it's sweet spot is right around 6500 ... gotta' love the v-ram too.

btw: isn't the fastest 1/4 mile porsche a 996tt w/ tip? why is that? (gotta' find that ol' post) along w/ that picture of a 993 w/ the 996 ****!

lol..saw this on the 996 board..

...
you can drink your Latte, text message, change you XM radio station, open or close you CAB AND have a conversation with your passenger ALL AT THE SAME TIME!! Now try this with a Stick! You will still be driving in first gear...and probably blow up your engine and come running to Rennlist to bitch about it!!
