Hi all,
From searching the forum, there are 2 foam pieces on each side of the front bumper cover to direct air to the AC and oil cooler. These pieces are missing on mine. Anyone has a picture of what these look like and where they go?
It's getting hot here in Texas and I'd like to improve my car's cooling and AC.
thanks,
anthony

Small triangular piece about 4" ? Goes between oil cooler and the bumper cover. I have one sitting in the garage - I can take a picture tonight. I moved the oil cooler out enough to replace my low-speed resistor the other night (working through fender well and headlight opening, and NOT removing the bumper cover). The foam piece came loose and I could not re-install it well, so it is sitting on the bench for now....

The foam pieces are in the PET (parts CD) and I can fax you the parts pages, but need to know if you have a standard bumper cover or TT (widebody) bumper cover. Some of the foam pieces are different.
Basically the foam pieces are cut to wedge in place and are glued to the bumper cover. They prevent cooling air from the front grill from "spilling around" the edges of the two heat exchangers. As you indicate, more air thru the "radiator", better cooling. You can probably get some foam and cut and fit a homemade deal, but the pieces from Porsche are cheap.

Big-bro....I sure would appreciate the pics.
Mike, do you have the part number?
I'd still like to know where it it in/on the bumper cover.
thanks,
anthony

Anthony,
Part numbers you need are:
2 - # 993-575-740-00 seal
2 - # 993-575-738-00 seal
2 - # 993-575-772-00 seal lower (TT bumper cover only this part)
The bumper cover has to be removed to install these foam seals. It is obvious where they go once the bumper cover is removed.

Where do these pieces fit in the bumper? I attached a diagram of the 964 bumper. I think the pads shown are part #12 and #13, but aren't sure where they fit.

Dave:
You're welcome. I have a note on my calander to get the WG tickets later this month. Looking forward to it.
Axl911:
Items #12 and #13 are correct on your diagram. On the standard bumper shown the foam pieces go above and below the oil and A/C heat exchangers, but are attached with adhesive to the back-side of the bumper cover. WHen the bumper cover is installed the foam pieces 'squish' against the heat exchangers and seal off the cooling air from passing around their edges. In other words, the air is forced through the cooling fins.

pieces on each side of the car down in the the lower bumper air exit grills. How important are these pieces? Is it at all possible to replace them without removing the front bumper cover? These pieces of foam were very fragile and pretty much disintigrated when touched. I would suspect that these were probably not very effective for some time, before breaking loose.

Alan, I deleted the old disintegrating foam pieces when I replaced my front bumper ... no problems

Hi Alan,
About a year ago, I discovered that mine had come loose, and they were in pretty bad nick. So I simply removed them.
Since then, I have not had any cooling issues. But then, I don't live in a very hot climate.
Take care,
Jens
