I'm not convinced that doing a valve job to "cure" the problem is necessary or effective (unless you have a bad oil consumption problem). It'd be interesting to know how many of those cars that have had their valve guides replaced have seen the CEL light return due to the SAI issue.
Yep, you definitely will want to blow compressed air through when you finish - carbon dust will fly out and you'll see how much more air-flow you have through those things. Then don't forget to clear the SAI fault codes after you've put the whole thing back together too.
