7:02am and mail.rennlist.net from the web and access via email program are getting no response. This happened around this time on Wed morning, too.

7:12am Working now, received mail via email program.

Thanks Edward! Just home after work - and have you (or anyone) noticed anything stange about the web interface for the Rennlist mail server throughout the day (well, except that it appears to actually be working.. ) I'll pull up those circuit, router and system logs in a bit - to take a look back here as well...

Hey John - Just wanted to let you know another data point. I've been having connection troubles this morning (It is 10:35am, PDT here in Seattle). My rennlist.net account has timed out twice, I'm using Thunderbird as my email reader. I connect through Comcast at home, and I notice I'm having the same trouble through my VPN connection to my office.

Hi John,

All seems to be going ok. I'm getting my email, but I've noticed on a few occasions that the "server was not found" or something like that. But then I'd just try again immediately and I'd be able to retrieve mail. Just a bit glitchy like that, and only in this last week. Thanks for staying on top of this, though. You're awesome!

I don't know what you are doing - but here is the message in the error logs:

Invalid password for user dan.statman... Want to check whatever password you are using in your e-mail program, as apparently, you are not using the correct password in one of your POP3 e-mail programs...?

Edward - that may have been me - as I was trying to figure out Dan's problem..

Hi John,

That is quite curious. The password has been unchanged for 5 years and it is re-typed by me every time I log in. i never get an invalid password error message, unless I type it in wrong, then it always tells me to try again. It is 2:30AM ET and I currently cannot access my mail,

 

One other thing I forgot to mention. When I try to access the mail and it is not connecting, I never get to the part where I enter the password, so that can't be it.

 

I've also been having problems accessing the server. I can not get to it as I write this. I hope this doesn't sound like a complaint. I'm actually very thankful John offers it. It's one of the few email services I can access from work.

John - First off, thanks for all you do with this site and the email servers, I know it is a lot of work.

Yet another data point, it is now 7:00am PDT, and I get the "mail.rennlist.net" timed out message when using my email program. I also get "Operation Timed out" when trying to access it using my browser. Its been that way for about 10 minutes. But, obviously, I can get here using my browser, so I don't think it is a complete network connection problem. I agree, it is weird.
