Differences through the 1995 my range? (Was airbox question)
Hi everyone;
I'm looking at a local 993 and I noticed that the HVAC inlet ducting (what I thought was an airbox) on the left side of the engine (as seen from rear) looks different than what I am used to seeing. Did they change this designs on the 993 part way through 1995 by any chance?
Cheers;
Eric

Scott, you win!
Ok, I may have called it the airbox, but it could very well be the HVAC stuff on the left side. Basically this engine looks different than the other 95's I have looked at and I was just trying to figure out why. I'm curious to know what kind of changes may have occurred in the 95 model year in terms of the engine compartment stuff.
My apologies for confusing matters and calling the components on the left side the airbox... I wish I had the car in front of me rather than only pictures to study then I wouldn't look like such an idiot! ;-)
Still learning...

I agree with cowtown..... Looks like a 964 setup.
The 994 has an inlet that points upward and mates to the decklid.
What is the VIN on your car? It could be a very early 95 production

Hi Scott;
What you describe is what I expected to see, so I was a bit surprised. I don't have the VIN# yet, but when I do I will post it.
Anybody know what else may be different on the early 1995 production vs midyear vs end of year? I know the basket handle brake lights disappeared on the later ones, but I didn't think there was much else different... Any big reasons to stay away from an early 95 as opposed to a later build 95?
Cheers;

OBDI connector changed from a 19 pin round (in the pasenger footwell) to the OBDII style rectangular in the driver side of the center console (still OBDI electronics though).

Eric,
My 993 is January 94 built and has exactly the same HVAC arrangement as depicted. It has been changed later in a model run. Apart from other giveaways already mentioned for an early 95 model, mine came with Boge shocks rather than Monroe, also rear wiper button/or blank button is the left most button of the center console rather than in the middle.
Regards
Alex

Alex,
Did you purchase your 993 in Dallas back in September/Oct?
