'95 C2 with 102k/mi. Needs a clutch (even though it was done at 90,000 in 2004 by owner - they screwed something up, grrrr) and sounds like the alternator bearing is getting whiney otherwise runs like a scalded cat.

Thanks lj. Let me go see what the actual mileage is and I'll post it here, it isn't far from what i posted when I started this thread. The car was in the shop for 7 months without being started, just pushed place to place. When it was time to start it, they charged the battery and she fired right up! Well, right after I remembered to disarm the thing. I had a whole lot of issues popping into my mind... bad gas, cel, etc, etc... nothing. These cars are amazing!

The earlier 911 guys must be having a good laugh over comments about having got to 100k miles and not having had to replace anything major. When I had my 3.2 it was generally assume that a top-end rebuild might be necessary after about 120k and a bottom end nearer 200k and gear boxes were not realy talked about at all!

The most worrying comment was on the three engines to date on a lowish mileage boxster.

Cheers,

David

I spoke to a woman in Calif. who was driving a 912 they had since new. 600k odd miles if I recall correctly! She had had a couple rebuilds and an engine compartment fire along the way but the car was looking and running great!

Rufus has 108k miles, but the engine was totally redone (split the case, and new cyl heads) by Ruf during the conversion done at 86k miles. Dang, I love this car. My 1974 911 had 180k miles when I sold it... it was ready for some new case studs.

Bought the car a year ago. I am the second Owner. The car came with a new odometer. I have 17K on the new odometer and the old one in my closet has 158K (175K minimum). I have only done normal maintenance and repair the past year. No paperwork came with the car.

I love my car!
