I run 17" 8.5J fronts with offset 50. Works really well with 225/45 tires, as the stretch prevents flex in the sidewalls.

I also have a set of so-called Cup2 17" with 8J fronts - offset 52.

...and simply look at the offsets of the OEM 18" 8J fronts for guidance - the wheel diameter doesn't matter when you are considering the offsets that work.

Thanks- I was looking for those, but couldn’t find a pair.

I guess I'll probably use these Eibach 15mm spacers, effectively converting the 70ET wheels to a 55 ET position on the car, the same as the original 7" wheels.

Hubcentric, and they include longer studs.

I am running 225/45 on 8x17 ET49 and 255/40 on 9.5x17 ET56. Details here. Clearance to the front calipers is very tight.

If you have the part number on those I would appreciate it.

My 17x8 ET70 ebay wheels came, and they're fine, but I'd much rather find a pair of ET52 ones so I wouldn't have to use a spacer on the front, which requires converting to longer studs, etc.

Sure - but it is as per Florian Seibold's excellent research.

993.362.126.00, in typical German orderliness.

OK, plan C for using my 8x17 ET70 front wheels that I found on ebay for an astoundingly low price.

The Eibach 15mm spacers I originally ordered require changing the wheel studs in the car hubs, a pain at least.

Found these H&R 21 or 23mm spacers that simply bolt on.

They would effectively change the offset from 70mm to 49 or 47mm, moving the wheel out 6mm or 8mm compared to the oem ET55 wheels.

So that would move the wheel out about 1/4" to 5/16" compared to the stock 55ET wheels. Either should be fine.

I'll post the results.

I have these wheels and will post pictures of them.

So... my OCD wheel-width pursuit has ended badly.

I've been running 225-45-17 on the front of my NB C4 on the oem 7" wheels, but recent testing by GRM and Tire Rack clearly shows that running wider tires on narrower-than-optimal rims actually hurts performance, so I'd be better of just running 205-50-17 like normal people.

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests...&affiliate=HP5

But then I got the idea to upgrade my front wheels to 8x17. I couldn't find the oem 993.362.126.00 Cup 2 8x17 wheels with 52mm offset (except buying new for $1300 each), but found a pair of 993.362.126.01 Cup 2 8x17 with 70 mm offset. (I think maybe those are 928 rear snow wheels, not 100% sure.)

Then I bought some very nice H&R 21mm spacers, which would "correct" the 70mm offset to 49mm, only 6mm (about 1/4") further out than the 55mm offset of the stock 7" wheels.

I test mounted a bare wheel on my car yesterday, and it looked......bizarre.

The spokes of those wheels arc outward significantly. I had hoped the setup would look stock but more aggressive, but instead I think it looks just weird- the spokes extend beyond the fender.

So..... I'll either just go ahead and mount my new PS AS4 225/45 on the oem too-narrow stock wheels, or I will more likely return those tires and just get the standard 205/50 size like a normal person.

As you were.
