Drove the car briefly this morning and after returning home
noticed the rear spoiler remains in the up position. Tried
manual button on dash to no avail, checked fuse, OK, did
a search on RL, nothing. Any ideas on where to begin the
trouble shooting process? Thanks, Steve
Can't give the full answer but I'm sure others will chime in - sounds like the motor for the spoiler has either failed completely or part of the drive mechanism is broken. Lift the engine lid and get someone to operate the spoiler switch and listen for the motor running - it is under the plastic cover on the left hand side of the engine cover. If you can hear the motor then it's probable some plastic bit has failed in the drive and you will have to strip it down to see if it can be fixed - if you can't hear it, it suggests the motor is shot. Believe there is some repair information on the Pelican site under tech tips.
there are two limit switches under the plastic cover that covers the motor.. Take a look at these swiches, one might be out of adjutment or stuck in the wrong position.
First thng I'd do is check to see if power is getting back there when you play with the switch. May be as simple as a blown fuse. If that checks out, the motor and switches would be where I'd check next.
Some have paid extra for that feature Like already mentioned, remove the plastic cover on the left side and have a look at the micro switches, plus anything else that looks wrong..
Nice speaking with you again this morning. Car looks great with those wheels!!
This happened to me and was a 2 min. free fix. Unscrew the cover over the spolier motor. Chances are one or more of the rubber caps that go over some bolts above have fallen into the cover and gotten hung up in the gear. If that's it, congrats. The go buy the Ruf module, so it doesn't go up and down so often.
Thanks everyone, appreciate your replies. It worked fine
driving to the local PCA breakfast yesterday, but lets see
what today brings. Thanks to RL's I have a few items to
check towards making it right again. Love this place!

what's the ruf module? what speed does it send the spoiler up and down?
another question for anyone: am i the only one who deliberately presses the 'up' button after slowing from over 50mph for the first time in my commute to keep the spoiler from going up and down- thus wearing out that motor? much of my commute is on 50mph roads with stoplights. that thing would be going up and down like a yo-yo.
