dead drivers window motor
I did my own on my 964 - I expect the 993 assembly is much the same. It took me about 3 hrs IIRC. Its a bit tricky, as the holes in the door skin seem WAY too small to get hte motor in & out of - but it can be done.
As others have said, I would exhaustively check the switch first.

if either one of the 2 passenger window switches is bad neither one will work. You need to switch each one out with a known good one (driver switch) before giving up on them being the problem.
revised: oops guess I dont know difference between driver and passanger. Guess its from having my girlfriend trying to drive from the right seat everytime we get in the car

First thanks for the replys.
Why I think it is the motor is that over a few days the window still moved but got slower and slower and finally stopped all together. The passenger side works fine. So it does not seem to me it would be the switches - do you ?
In any case will ask to have them checked first.
thanks,

Might not be the switch given your description of the window operation. However if you try replacing the switch and it still doesn't work you are only out the cost of the switch. And it doesn't hurt to have a spare as they do wear out. Especially on the drivers side.
Best of luck!
Let us know how it turns out.

I just did this fix about a month ago on my '96 cab. My driver's side window went down extremely slowly and sporadically (insert joke here). Seriously though, it cost about $650 for parts and labor (NYC shop). Just make sure they have all of the parts before they dismantle the door and window. In my case they took it all apart and were one part shy. Had to wait 2 weeks for the part and could not drive the car because the window did not function at all once they took it apart. Money well spent, as my patience was running thin waiting for my window to go down. Hope this was helpful.
