Default cr210 failure, will cdr220 plug in/work?

My stock 210 in my "97 993 coded and will not take the code-it either sez wait or code or returns to code. I'm afraid it od'd and tooka puke. I'm wondering if a cdr220 will slide in , plug in and work properly. I've heard that this model is screened to be viewed fom a different angle than the 993. Is this true? I've done some searches, but found no answers.
Which begs the other dilema, is it time to hardwire in an aftermarket cd dash unit. I'm reluctant to do this , as I dislike having some young audio tech inside the dash of my 993 clipping and spicing wires???
Sorry to revisit an old subjcet again. Anybody know about the angle thing?
Thanks,
Rich

Propeye....I just replaced the stock with a Blaupunkt Seattle....the guys did it in 45 minutes and everything is great....much better sound and no problems with them messin around in the dash...the Seattle unit is nice as it is black so fits with dash very well and the screen has a view angle changer so that works nice and the screen is shades of grey

dhicks,
Thanks for the insight. It helps to hear from someone who has already made the change, successfully.
I think I'll go the cdr220 route-it beats having some quack hacking up my 993's insides.
Thanks again,
Richard

Propeye, if you are in WA I can put you in touch with a top-notch shop. The guy was one of the first to start on 911's back in the early 80's. He did my car, they add no holes, drill no holes, etc. I can easily make it all stock again.

The 220 should work as long as you get the code with it.

The CDR 220 will slide right in...plug and play. Just guide the cables in the back as you push it in. It handy to have the removal keys (Ebay 5 bucks) to pop the head unit out when ever you need. Takes 5 min to swap.
