Default Help! Need to find rear booster seat for 993...thanks!

My son's 4, and since I can't shut off the airbag, I need to find a booster seat for the back. Any options you know of in stores or on the internet that'll fit back there properly?

Thanks very much!

Britax Starrizer is what I use and it's the same as the Porsche one except without the airbag deactivation. I've got 2 of them in my cab (which has slightly less space than a coupe I think) and it fits nicely. You can get it for $80 with free shipping from babyuniverse.com. Use MAY10PER as a discount code until 5/31 and you get 10% off ($89 before discount).

Porsche do an passenger airbag deactivation kit for when a Porsche child seat is used in the front.

Suggest you hit Babies R Us and actually try the seats in the back before you buy one. I did so a week or two ago (997 in my case), and found some too wide for a good fit in the base of the rear seat. An Eddie Bauer seat seemed to have a narrower base and it fit very well. I have the mid-size Porsche seat made by Britax (previous generation, not current), and the base does not fit well in the rear. Your rear seats may be a little tighter than mine.

Hi SuperD,

I use the Century Brevarra, a simple booster seat whose base is narrow enough for our really small and oddly shaped rear-seat bottoms. They are discontinued, but I included an ebay link if you want to take a look at what they look like (no affiliation, of course).

They often come with belts, but I don't use them; I buckle my kids straight in with the car's 3-point belts. Hope this helps.

I second the Century as a buckle in kids seat for the back.

Now that my son is almost five and uses a booster, I disabled the pass. side airbag and use a Britax booster up front. I am giving strong consideration for going rear seat delete, just to keep the CA authorities happy with the new kids seat in the back seat first rules... just have to see...

Thanks guys! Yeah, I think I'd better drop by Babies R Us or something similar to try a couple out for fit, just to see what I like best. I figured all the boosters would be as wide on the bottom as our baby seats--way too wide for my 993 rear seat, but it's good to know there are a couple of decent choices that will fit well. Thanks again.

Britax starriser comfy also with the cab. I've also had a airbag disable switch put in for the front passenger seat. I occasionally drive all three in my car, plus my 9-year old doesn't fit too well in the back any more. Check out www.airbagonoff.com if you are interested in the switch.

The Bodyguard is an inch or so wider than the starriser. I'm glad to hear that it fits as it looks to be a bit more substantial than the starriser.

Uh-oh...I just got the Bodyguard booster, tried to buckle it in and just buckling it with no kiddy in there it's at the end of the belt slack--so it ratchets and I can't adjust the tension of the belt looser to get my son in. And it's too wide to fit in all the way.

Help! What did you do to make it work?

I don't know the width of the Star Riser base, but this Bodyguard base is too wide to fit all the way back and between the lap belt anchors. The only way to get it in somewhat is at an angle which isn't in contact with the lower seat back "pocket". And if it's not at an angle, it's wedged partially between the lap belt anchors and also not solidly in the pocket. I tried to adjust the base narrower, but it's on it's narrowests setting.

So far, I can't see how this one will work, but maybe I'm missing something?

My son's 4yrs old and 40+ pounds, that one's for a baby 5-20lbs. Thanks anyway though. I have to find a booster for 40+ pounds that fits.

Too bad this Bodyguard seat doesn't fit, it's darn nice.
