My car had the top end work / valve job / lifter replacement, etc... done by Beverly Hills Porsche at 57,000 miles. The cost was about $7,000 back then -- the nice thing is that it was done 2 prior owners ago -- didn't cost me a thing.
If it were me, I'd also shop the price -- but I can say that my car runs strong!

"If it's indeed SAI error code in computer, make sure you contact PCNA in Atlanta(1-800-PORSCHE) and ask them for all those repairs to be covered under 7-yr Emission Warranty. Essentially, in your situation you won't pass technical inspection because of clogged air passages. If I'd be you, I would call PCNA immediately, let them know who in your Porsche dealership inspected your car and try to get everything covered by PCNA.
If PCNA takes care of the rebuild/cleaning the passages, then the only downside is that you missed an opportunity to put RS/LWF package from ViperBob(devek.net) on.
Good luck!"
If anyone has been able to get PCNA to cover the SAI problem under the emmission warranty, PLEASE share the information with fellow board members !!!!!!!!!
Any specific contacts, forms, copies of letters, etc... anything to to help owners get this covered would be greatly appreciated. I dread having to explain to 993 owners about this problem and that unfortunately since all these cars are out of the 4 year warranty window, unless you have a good aftermarket warranty, it has to come out of your pocket. We have had no luck with local dealers covering this expense.
