Just put these on yesterday. New R tires from Continental. Avalible in Asia only, at least for the time being. Not as soft as Yoko A048 but one level up from AD07. Not much info form the net yet, so if anyone have more info pls share them. Try to break them in soon as track day is coming up next month, I will provide a brief report of how it perform after. Some pictures of the tires.
Hi Winsome,
Thanks for the post. I've been running Continentals on my C2 for the last 3 years. I've got 17's on my car, a compromise between comfort, looks and handling. As I don't track my car I'll go for comfort, looks I'll leave to others. I'd be interested to hear your take on these after you've had a chance to evaluate them. One thing I really like about the Continental is the raised area on the sidewall that gives you that little extra protection from curb rash as can be seen in your second photo.
Winsome, I can't really see it on the picture, what is the treadwear rating like please. What other "R" tires have you tried that you could compare to?
Steve the wheel I am using is Enkei NT03+M, you can check it out from their web site. They are quite light and strong for cast wheels. heres the picture. they look much better in real life though.
I have only tried A048 and Corsa on both street and track. Both are excellent especially 048 it sticks like glue. but honestly I was not able to exceed the limit. Corsa is quite civilize as it is not as noisy 048 and also better on wet condition. but 048 is too noisy and the sidewall is very very stiff. For those looking for the utimate control and cornering power on dry look no further, oh and because of the soft compound they really don't last. I needed something more civilize so I tried this C1 as it is recommended by a very good friend. I shall copy down some spec on the sidewall tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing the pics of your FINE looking 993 and for sharing the info on the tires -- learn something new every-time I'm on here. This STILL is a great place!
