Second 'stage' on gas pedal ...
There seems to be a second level of pressure needed to pass about the mid-point on the gas pedal travel ... is there any significance to this particular throttle point??

On my '97 993, the "firmer" section of the accelerator travel is at the last 10%. It reminds me of the feel of actuating the secondaries of a 4 barrel carb. The effect seems to be about the same, too. Maybe it activates a WOT system on the VarioRam induction?
Honestly, I don't know the exact function. Sorry I'm not more help, but I'll certainly confirm that the "firmness" exists!

I was wondering if this actuated something like the varioram, though there is no mention in the manual. If so, perhaps this is a throttle range to use somewhat conservatively given engine wear if you don't need (or just want) the extra power. Whoops ... give head shake ... reboot brain ... of course you want the extra power.

The resonance flap is closed when RPM is between 3000 and 5500 and the throttle angle is > 60 degrees, the wide-open throttle/full-load ignition maps start at 66 degrees of throttle and continue up until 84 degrees. If you can find someone with a Bosch hammer (or PST2/PIWIS) you can read out the throttle position and check the adjustment of your accelerator pedal but what your describing is in theory the way its supposed to operate.
