If the 996 had been the 997, I'd have bought it rather than the pre-owned 993 I have now.

I could buy the 997 now but I think ... why? I'm not even pushing the limits of my 993, I like
the classic interior (but also like the 997 interior), and I've got lots of bucks for family vacations.

There is one thing ... while the 997 rear is similar to the 996, I've noticed that I can tell the
difference between the too and, to me, the 997 is just plain sexier. Then again, my wife says
I'm a rear-end kind of guy.

If you go with a higher mileage 993, you can get a car well under $40K. For less cash outlay,
you could have both a 993 and a future pre-owned 997 compared to a brand new 997 today.

There's always the saying, if you have to ask this kind of question, the price of the new 997 is
probably too much for your budget. There is no rational justification to buy a Porsche versus
any other car. There is only the emotional decision that gets rationalized. Like buying a 993
versus a boxster because it has two more seats for kids. And yes, the boys love riding in the back. :^)
