Thanks Matthew for the offer. I did not know I was going down that route until I got the timing chain cover oil leak like Ash. Also, I had a rough idle before and after complete service, diagnosed as a disintegrating stock FW. It became a "while we are in there" item.

Mine makes minimal noise in neutral with chutch out. Easy way to get rid of the noise - Fabspeed Supercups!! Seriously, my '97 stalled twice on the way home from the shop and has been flawless ever since!! Highly recomended.

Is this so?

And if it is, just how noisy does it get?

TIA,

Steve.

ummm pretty noisy sometimes...

try to find one and listen

IMHO the LWF & RS clutch is best MOD to do. I guarantee you, your car will feel a lot quicker and faster.

I have to agree with everyone else. You hear the noise, very slight, at the beginning because it is new. After you drive the car a couple of times you will not even notice it any more. I could not recommend it more highly.

Have to agree with the others....No discernable noise from mine and WOW, it really revs up faster!
3 months now and I abolutely love the results.

Yep its noisy - so what? Sounds great and its only up to 1800rpm or so. Sure turns heads in traffic tho!!
(if you want silent - get a lexus )

Once you're on the go, there's no stopping you - electric throttle response - just make sure you have the sport airbox and RSRs to really appreciate it all!
(oh, and hang on tight!!)

The clatter also gets louder after the gearbox oil is really warmed up. On my car it is loudest after long highway drives or short track sessions.

Even then, however, it's not a big deal.

I'm sold - where' my credit card...this should sound great with the Supercups. As a matter of fact, the Cups will probably drown out any chatter!!!

I'll jump on the bandwagon and say that this is definitely a good mod to do if you have to replace the clutch anyways. Pricepoint difference between OEM and the LWF/RS clutch is nothing that you'd lose sleep over but the performance difference is DEFINITELY something you will notice. There is chatter at idle as others have mentioned and if you lug the engine in 1st/2nd you'll notice a little noise as well. Beyond that, the engine spools up so quickly, it feels like you have additional ponies back there.

Terry...you couldn't keep away could you...somehow I knew that once your car was in Bob's hands...there would be no turning back...congrats on the "while you were in there" mod! hehe

You people are all evil and I wish I had never found this Rennlist. 120K miles ago I had a brand new 993 that I thought was just fine the way the factory delivered it to me. Then I started going on BAR drives and to a few race tracks, seeing what people did to their cars. We ended up at Bob's one afternoon. Then stuff wore out, so I figured it's the same labor to put in a so-so part as a real exciting one. I feel I have shown remarkable restraint for the miles I have. I hope I can resist the 3.8L upgrade when the valve guides wear down. "While we are in there".
