I've read past post that the 993 tiptronics are very reliable. There were only two mentions of tip failures. One had to do with a bad internal solenoid. I have 67000 miles on mine and it is flawless. Mine is a daily driver and I shift it manually unless I am stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on the 101 Freeway.

Often referred to by Porsche techs as "bullet proof" - have yet to hear of a failure and there is little on this board to support anything other than the fact that they seem to hold up very well.

My mechanic tells me there bullet proof. I had one in my 964 loved it. Only drove with it in the manual mode. But missed shifting, I mean really shifting. One of the main reasons I moved to a 993 with a 6 spd.
