Default odometer has quit

The past few times I have started my car there has been a whirring sound like a small fan coming from behind the speedometer. Yesterday I noticed that my ododmeter has stopped. The speedometer is still working just fine. Has anyone had this problem? Should I just take it out and send it to Hollywood Speedmeter? Thanks.......Chris

Very common by the looks of it on the board.

Did you reset the trip meter while the car was in motion? If so, that often strips the little gear in the back and causes this problem.

Nope. I learned that lesson with a previous car. I spoke with North Hollywood and they have a standard rate of $130 plus shipping both ways. This will be the cheapest repair to this car yet! Of course I'll probably short some wires out taking it out causing a fire that will level my garage.

Too bad about your failure.

But there is a good side to this one.

Whats the good side? If the fire burns his garage down he can rebuild a four car with a lift?

I think the "good side" JP's referring to is that with no odo, the car doesn't register any increased mileage. Sounds like it's time for a road trip
