Question Radio died

Took the 993 out of storage yesterday,beautiful day !
Battery was dead,radio code on.CR1 radio will power up but nothing comes on the sreen,no code , no### zip.
Suggestions or a good SIMPLE reasonable replacement ? Factory unit ?
I did attempt a couple searches.

You need to get to the code screen to enter the code. I cant remember how I used to do that. I think I held down the fm key for like 10 seconds or something. I will try and find you the answer. Once the code screen comes up then you can enter your code again.

Ok here I found my old post on the 968 board.

Spattman I had the same problem. I got many answers on many boards and even the local porsche dealer was wrong about it. Roger on this board told me the correct way. Its simple. Turn the key on and radio on. Then hold down the FM button for like 20 seconds. Then the word code will flash. Type in your 4 numbers and you are good to go.

Any good plug in upgraded factory radios that will fit and work my factory CD up front ?

Just bought the CDR-210 from Becker for $250! "Brand New" meaning it's refurbished but cosmetically mine is perfect.

None of the newer factory stereos will control the changer you have, as far as I know. The changer that went with the CR-1 was an Alpine unit, while all the 96+ head units & changers are Becker.
