Default Any way to un-delete the back seat in a GT3?

I have kids, and if I get a two seater they will have a fit.

There are several threads in the GT3 forum on this. Try doing a search and you'll find them.

The least expensive way to un-delete your back seat is to trade cars with me....wait a minute, I dont have a back seat either....

What's else you'd like to add? Sunroof? Subwoofer? 28" spinners?

Sorry to be harsh but that's one particular 996 that's really performance oriented and I get pissed when people want to mess it up, get a TT, C4S or whatever else of thousand different 996 models instead.

No wonder the 993 forum has the reputation that it does. A guy asks a technical question and ends up with a lot of useless opinion that has nothing to do with what he asked. There are lots of good reasons to buy a GT3 with backseats instead of a regular 996 and most of them have nothing to do with performance.

Chris

Of course you can. It needs some work but not a big deal. I would do it at a dealer and use 996 parts preferably. Over there in the US you might need to consider some insurance issues.

I don't see any harm in installing 2 rear seats in a GT3, it is not an GT3RS, so it does not have the roll bar and is not a track only, dedicated car. 2 seats will hardly add any weight relatively speaking, and unless you are a professional racer you will not notice any difference at all in performance.

I removed the rear seats in my 993 GT2 clone, and now I regret it, after only one day of having it and the kids asking me to take them for a ride.

Wot ? No pics???

Take your kids one at a time. Your car is now too extreme to have regrets about the back seat... IMO of course.

I too will want to put in back seats when I get a GT3. To me this is the closest thing to a new 993 available. I have a wife and a small child and want very much for them to be a part of all my P-car related activities. My family and their involvement in my life is much more important than the few pounds of extra weight the seats will add to a non-dedication race car. If I were such a big racer I would buy a Super Cup car.
If you get a difinitive answer from anyone or the dealer let us know.

Cool

Jean, your baby is looking awesome!

Cladd, I wish I could help you. I'm just gonna guess for I haven't seen the back of a GT3 under that carpeting, but I would think that mounting points for both the rear seats and the belts are there but not punched thru to easily put the bolts and hardware since that frame wasn't initialy designed to take the rear seats. It will probably take some mods(cutting and welding) to put all the seat and belts hardware. This is probably the most important issue you have to consider if infact that it will need that much of modifications, ..it will be the insurance in case you get into an accident involving back seat passengers.
