Traffic pro needed! (yes - that topic again!)
I went thru all of the posts and the places you could supposedly get a traffic pro brand new for my 993 and have run into a dead end. I'm bidding on the only one available on e-bay right now.
Does anyone know what happened to the poster who knew about a whole bunch of new units for sale? When I called the business - they had one and would not sell it to me unless I showed up with cash at their door. Since I'm in Jersey and they're in Washington state - I couldn't make it happen. I'd really like one of these in my 993. Help!

Rich,
I just went through the same thing. Crutchfield and Car Toys stock seems to have dried up. I found an actual Porsche version Traffic Pro (model 4763)from Becker North America (in New Jersey!) for $599 including latest version of Nav software. Besides having Porsche on the face plate, it displays PORSCHE when you turn it on (very cool). Give Burl in Parts a call (201)327-3434 x1209, he may have a few more.

David,
No advantage except for the Porsche logo lighting up when you first turn on the unit. I posted photos in an earlier post. The new software updates the mapping. The original mapping is four oe five years old. Not too much different.
I don't think the TP2 will offer much over the original to make it worth the upgrade.

Updated software is faster - more accurate and has picked up most of the changes in my area (MD) even some of the off beat roads - I have the original Porsche TP (about 4 yrs old) - very few differences. Also the new software has more locations that can be programed by address. $599 still pretty reasonable - 4 ys ago, $1200. Good luck!

got it
Got my traffic pro in today. Its a porsche unit. Looks great. I pulled my cdr 210 out and I'm about to try and install the traffic pro. I've read on the boards that thhere may be a "jumper" needed - but I dont know any more about it. If anyone can enlighten me - please post. I'll post my results (or lack of) soon.

Thanks Jason - and thanks to Scott who turned me on to the supplier in Jersey. He was right on the money. I'll check for Jason's e-mail in a minute - but so far I've got the unit in and working (radio and CD sound good). I had to pull out the "cage" from the 210 to install the traffic pro properly. I'll try to get it all the way back into place and load the navigation Cd's tomorrow.
Once again. Rennlist is a great place.

Glad it worked out for you Rich. Let us know if the display still flashes PORSCHE on startup after installing the new version (2.0) of the software. I lost that capability even though I have the Porsche TP. I don't think everyone had this problem (BobbyB?) but there may be different versions of the NAV software out there. I posted on the Becker board and was told V2 software released by Becker North America works great with the Porsche TP but would only display Becker on startup.

My Boxster S & 993 both have Porsche TP running the upgraded software. Both still show PORSCHE when 1st turned on - just before the disclaimer. I brought the software update from Harmon Kardon although it's made my Navtech, only Harmon Kardon sells it.
