Default In Market For 993 - Need Your Help

I have been reading the forum for months and it has been valuable. So I just joined rennlist to really tap into your expertise.

I recently sold my 97 Boxster. Now in the market for 96 - 98 993 coupe. I would appreciate your input on 2 things:

1) C4S versus C2S trunk size. I plan to use the car as an everyday driver which means needing to carry an overnight bag on trips (pull along bag like you would stow in the overhead of a plane). I know the bag fits in a C2S. Is the C4S trunk the same size as the C2S or smaller? In know a 996 C4S trunk is a lot smaller than the 996 C2 trunk. Is this the same on the 993?

2) Looking for polar silver, arctic silver, or one of the shades of blue. Would love to find one with the trip computer option (wife needs help knowing how many miles she can drive before she runs the car dry on gas).

Any leads would be greatly appreciated. The hunt is fun but I have been at this for 3 months now. I figured you all could point me in the right direction.

1) to my knowledge, 993 c4s and c2s trunk size is identical

2)look at rennlist classifieds, autotrader.com, cars.com, pca classifieds, specialty sales shops (although expect to pay a premium) such as rpm sports cars, premier sports cars, holt motorsport, sloan cars, etc.

welcome to rennlist. unless there is any chance that you wont buy SOME 993 at some point, you need to now join and become a member.... it has its benefits far beyond the subscription price

Where are you located, that usually helps us to direct searchers. Try www.truspeed.com. They have a lot of 993s for sale. I just found this cab at their site with an on-board computer. It is a tip, however. Good luck.

Looked all over the site and could not find the area to join. All I see is the subscribe/register. Can you send me the info/link to join. Would be happy to pay to get the benefits. Thanks

Since you are in PA I would check out Holt Motorsports in West Chester. Tim Holt is a straight shooter and his cars are the cream of the crop - top notch. You will pay a premium though, but to some it is worth it. Always do a PPI though. http://www.holtmotorsports.com

I have no connection with Holt other than I bought my 87 from Tim last summer and was very satisfied. Good luck!

Mark - I visted Tim at Holt Motorsports a few weeks ago. He was great. I drove the 96 993 C2 with the "RS Euro Look". Really liked the car but it was the first 993 I ever drove. I did not have a good sense of comparison. I plan on going back this week. Take a look at the car on his site and let me know what you think. http://www.holtmotorsports.com/inven...ook/index.html

I've been drooling over this car on his site for a few weeks now. I am desparately trying to stop my urge to flip my 87 for a 95 or 96 993. Must resist....

That looks like a nice one. But do a PPI. I used:

Mark - thanks for all of the help. How much should I expect the PPI to run? Were you happy with them?

I was extremely happy with them. The cost was $250 +-. I had them do a complete inspection with leak-down and compression testing. Well worth it!

I paid Performance directly so I would get an objective opinion. Tim brought the car over to them and picked it up when they were through.

Must resist buying 993..........

But necessary. Droping thousands on a 993 is incompatible with my even stronger desire to quit my boring, soul-sucking job and open my own business.

That having been said I reserve the right to change my priorities at any time.

In case I missed something, how much IS that car at Holt? The wheels look interesting - I don't think I've ever seen them before on a 993. Excuse my ignorance, but what are they?

Good luck with your search. Tim bought my old 88 911 so I could buy my 96 993! Here's the last day I owned it, seconds before his crew drove it out of my driveway for good... He was the only firm offer I got for my car! The rest of the people were emailing tire kickers.

Silver is a great color as it hides the dirt. You're going to be a very happy camper once you buy your car. It also took me about 3 frustrating months to find mine.

Steve
