Default European turn signal lenses on US car - bumper gap ??

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a set of European clear lenses (without bumperetts) to be used on my US car with bumperetts. I thought it would be a simple swap, (remove bumperetts, etc) but I found out there is a gap on my bumper which makes the setup look darn ugly.

I've heard of many people doing this upgrade to their cars without a problem, is my bumper different than most for some reason?

See picture...

No, your car is the same as all the rest of the USA cars. There is a square hole which must be properly filled, or you must buy a Euro bumper. I had mine filled, and it still looks great 18 months later. Some guys on this forum have done it themselves (including John D., our Rennlist Emperor). Normally, people wait until they have some rock chips or other reason to get their bumper re-sprayed, and then remove the bumperettes at that time. Well worth it, in my view.

Thank you Steve.... That explains it. I'll wait to have the bumper filled in and then add the lenses. Thanks again for the quick reply

John D did a really great DIY write-up of this procedure 6-9 months ago. Search for it.

"search" is your friend

Another option for you - someone had previously taken the black bumperette and cut it down leaving just a big enough piece to cover the hole...was able to use the Euro lenses. Considering he didn't have to do any paintwork, the result wasn't bad.

This has only been covered a dozen times. Had you spent a minute searching ...

Just 1 of the threads.

Steve - the lenses posted by Tony are just the Euro lenses Dremeled to fit a US spec (bumperette) bumper.

Steve,

The are modified European lenses. Basically they were trimmed and resealed.
