Cool video... If you were wondering how they work.

Also check out these images. This guy has a recessed mid-rise lift. Then ran a conduit and mounted the control unit to the wall. I plan on doing this too. pretty cool stuff.

Sandoval -
That is a great idea, I'd do that if it was my garage as well.

Ron et al:
Here are the pics of my mod (I used a sawzaw). Notice the 1st pic shows where I cut the cross support, which doesn't really affect anything. The 2nd pic is a closeup and the 3rd is the reason for doing it. You can't remove the engine tranny combo easily without performing the modification. When the car is off it I'll clean it up and paint it accordingly.

Cheers,
Andy

Andy,

I kind of figured that was the piece you cut. I wonder why it's there, since there is not a piece like that in the front because it would be in the way of the cylinders.

My thoughts exactly. No failures have occured with my car (4 wks) yet. I really don't think it poses a problem.

DO IT Ron! It does make the job far easier.

Good luck buddy and thanks for the picture posting tips....I'll keep working on it.

I've used the lift almost everyday so far since I got it, but to work on Mercedes vehicles. I have not even made any ramps yet so I can drive my Porsche over it to try it.

I think it's a very nice mid-rise scissors lift for the money.

I used some aluminum stock under the bases of mine to prevent wear in the concrete, this is the original confiuration

Then I built a more solid platform around the lift as an alternativet to sinking it into the floor, seemed to be a tad easier on my back this way

Bill, Thanks for the pictures of a garage in the real world! I can relate to the recycle bins and busy workbench.

The aluminum plate idea is a good one.

From what I've read on other forums from people who have them , no. It's my understanding the order you have them above is the order of quality, Bend Pak being the best.

See www.968forums.com and search on "Garage Lifts"

Anyone with experience with this lift? http://mohawklifts.com/consumer/usl6000.php

I consider Mohawk and Rotary two of the better lifts, but would like to know if this lift provides good access to the trans and engine as it appears.

I have the one from Greg Smith and I am quite happy with it, and is less expensive than most.
