10 unknown facts about 993....
The UK magazine Porsche 911 & World had a 993 buyers guide back in 2001-2002 timeframe when they listed 10 unknown facts about the 993, as an example;
1) The 993 body was designed by an english designer
2)
and then I can't remember what the other facts were. Can any one of you please fill in the gaps since I have lost the magazine.
Thanks,
Jonas

2- Porsche claims the 993 would cost 45% less than the 964 (thanks to hyd tappets, etc)
3- the cup wheels are design to suck air out off the wheel arch.
4- the only panel carried over from the 964 is the roof.
5- 993 could be ordered with a 3.8 devoloped fro the RS (YES!!!!!!)
6-993 is the internal Porsche model code. The car was never marketed as such, it was never even badged as a 911 but as a Carrera.
7-the code 993 was no ref to the year the model was introduced.
8- the four wheel drive is 50% lighter than the one from the 964.
9-the headlights are claimed 50% better than the one from the 964.
10-993's tail light and reflector are narrowe than the ones on the previous 911s.
See you in Sweden in june 2006?
Cheers

Kinda related, I have read the roof sheet metal stamping had been unchanged from 1965 - 1998. Not many car companies can say that. Even the VW Beetle had many roof stamping chnages

The 964s came standard with a white cane for night driving... I had one and even with brighter bulbs it was useless. The 993s NAs are not much better... The change with the HIDS is unreal in these cars. If you can, install one of those HID setups. You will not believe the difference...
