Question SoCal Vs NorCal Rumble: April 30 (May 1). Who's in?

I decided to start a new, more to-the-point thread about the 2nd annual SoCal Vs NorCal "you-shmooze-you-don't lose" rumble. Last year we had this major event at a park near Arroyo Grande. We had a fantastic BBQ that one of our Rennlisters (Brian) organized. We must have had around 40 cars show up, and everyone had a great time. Many of the rumblers went wine tasting, and a few spent the night in Cambria (I think). A really fun opportunity to meet our Rennlist brothers and sisters. All models of Porsches are welcome, including Cayenne.

The first task is to set a date. I'm going to propose April 30 (Saturday) for the meet. That leaves Sat evening and Sunday open for those that want to get a little shnockered on the fine wines in that area.

I need your inputs on that date. Let me know if you're in. Let me know if that date doesn't work, but what other date you would propose. Setting a good date is the hardest part of setting up an event.

Report back in this thread only please.

I'm in too. Steve we should start working on reserving a location be it public or private. I just called the Paso Robes Parks & Rec. office and their beautiful downtown park is already booked for 4/30. So regardless of the locale we should reserve the location soon. How about a winery? They do luncheons, weddings, why not a Porsche meet? Just a thought....

Last year, the BBQ lunch was $20/person. I'm fine with a winery lunch if the price isn't prohibitative. We would insist on our own section of the parking lot. We also had lots of door-prizes/giveaways that were donated by Rennlist sponsors that assumed I wouldn't just keep them all. We had a fun raffle, and at least half the people won something. Some really cool stuff: cup holders, wheel wax, tire pressure gauge, other cleaning stuff, uhhh... ok I can't remember the other stuff.

OK... whadda you folks thinkabout booking a winery for lunch? Prefer a park with a BBQ? Jack-in-th-Box?

Steve,

I called the Paso Robles Vinters and Growers Association and got a list of possible wineries that would be able to accomodate 30-40 or so people for a BBQ or lunch. I have not called any of them pending a decision on where we want to go. I do think that if we included a tasting we would spend more than $20. per including the lunch. I think we should also call your caterer from last year and ask if he has any connections to a winery where he could provide us lunch. Let me know if you'd like me to do more...

You mean you're finally old enough to drink?

...sorry, Eyal, couldn't resist.
I'm just jealous because you got a porsche in your youth and I had to wait. Hope to see you there!!

If work doesn't do me in I too am in. I'll even take the Supercups off and put the OEM mufflers on so the wife will go.
