Installed the lowering collars today. Stock springs (Non M030), Bilstein
HD (US Spec), M030 sway bars. Install done by Johnson's Alignment.
Went as low as the treads would allow in rear and then lowered the
front to match. Using ground to top of wheel well opening method,
measures 25 3/4" front and rear. Tire is perfectly centered in wheel
well. There is enough thread on the front shock bodies to go another
inch lower if one chooses, but this is the ride height I was going for.
No issues with alignment, corner balanced 50/50. You don't even
need to remove the shocks from the car completely for this install.
I am very happy with the results, look, ride quality, clearance issues,
overall costs.

Steve, How's that car feel with the stock springs and the HD's? I was thinking of begining to play with my suspension, and the thought of the stock spring with an HD would lead me to think you'd get a harsh ride when going over road bumps (from the stiffer shock and quick give in the spring) and then the stock springs would tend to not give enough spring rate under heavy load......have you had enough time to feel your set up out yet?

Chris, No I haven't had time to drive the new setup in all conditions,
but so far the ride which I was trying to preserve still seems to be
there. All though these springs are not progressive they do work
well with Bilstein HD's. I will drive her more tomorrow and post
on this tread my impressions.

Drove the car today for about 100 miles and I'm still happy
with the results. Although I have nothing other than my 996
and previous p-cars to compare it to. I have spoke with
other 993 owners with various spring setups and this is
the reason I choose this route. I really feel the shock plays
a more important role in suspension setup than the spring.

Well I drove the hell out of mine for the first time. Did about 140 miles through some backroads. I have to say, not as good as twisties through some hills, but that car spent 140 miles mostly over the century mark. And I need some stiffer something! It was a little to "floaty" over 120 if the car hit a dip or was upset for any reason. The experience of the front end kicking in with a "pull" (4S) during a hard cornering after a few moments is an interesting feeling.....need to get used to that! These are fun cars indeed! I think the shocks needed to be a little stiffer as well as the springs. Steve keep us updated on the feel and characteristics of the new setup.

Steve did you have to reroute your rear sway bar under the suspension link?
Or were the US spring long enough to keep it in the original position?

Default Hergesheimers Lowering Collar Installed today

Ok, Jonathan... I had the lowering collars installed today I was able to drop another inch in front So my final ride height is 25.25" in front and 24.25" in the rear.

I 've attached some pics from this morning and some shots in the afternoon... it was a miserable driving condition morning in Los Angeles as we got pounded by very heavy rain.

Also keep in mind that the car will still settled a little more in the next 5-1k miles.

Let me know what you guys think... please.

Edit: 24.75" to 24.25"

Speaking of suspension setteling, I noticed that my front end changes by more then 1/4 in depending on how much fuel is in the tank. Just something to think about if you're going for a particular lowerd look. Surprise, Its a moving target(GertHD/RoWM030).
