Default Hollowspoke 18"?

How can you decide if you have the hollowspoke Turbo twists or not?

The part number should be stamped on the back of the rim, I can't recall whether I had seen this on the spoke or the center. PET shows number 993.362.136.00, though hopefully someone can confirm that this is the correct hollowspoke part (vs. the solid version).

OK, thanks, if I understand you correctly: upper photo is hollowspoke?
Also someone told airvalves should be whole metal on hollowspoke?

Ulf,

Upper photo is hollow spoke rim. Smooth on the back side. Yes, the hollow spoke use a metal valve stem that bolts through the rim and seals with 'O' rings on each side. I don't know, but you may be able to use the same metal valve stem on the solid spoke wheels, so the fact these are installed may not mean the wheels are hollow spoke.

Hey Joe - that's my copyright protected solid spoke photo. You'll be hearing from my solicitor
(just kidding, of course)

As posted previously, here are the part #s:

Part numbers:
Technology (hollow spoke)

10x18 ET65 (R-Narrow)...993.362.140.01 - 23.36 lb
10x18 ET40 (R-Wide).....993.362.140.00 - 25.13 lb

Turbo Look (solid spoke)
8x18 ET52 (Front).......993.362.136.01 - 25.57 lb
10x18 ET65 (R-Narrow)...993.362.140.04 - 29.32 lb

This is the most definitive "how do you tell hollow spoke" thread I've seen, and in record time.

Actually there have been several past threads w/the same (or more) info, but then w/o redundancy this would be a quiet place.

E.g.,
6/01 post
10/01 post
5/03 post

... and here's my post from 4/04:

Seljan
Technology = hollow spoke
Turbo Look = solid spoke

...................................Technology (hollow)..... Turbo Look (solid spoke)
8x18 ET52 (Front).......993.362.136.00.............993.362.136.01
10x18 ET40 (R-WB).....993.362.140.00.............993.362.140.03

Technology has a metal valve stem with a large visible mounting nut at its base against the wheel. Turbo Look has a rubber valve stem (which may, however, have a metal sleeve) which is recessed into the wheel so only a short length is visible.

Here's a pic of the inside of a Turbo Look wheel. Technology has a closed (hollow) spoke. If you reach inside & feel the pictured grooves, it's Turbo Look, if no grooves, it's Technology.

Usually there is the "the back has channels", "what do you mean", "does someone have a pic". This one was, BAM. Here is the side-by-side comparison. It's not a criticism as I think it's healthy for these topics to come up now and again. My thread was more about the efficiency of Rennlist. Gotta love it.

I have all the part number data copied down too! I had to go through all that research when I bought my hollow spokes.
