The slippery slope.....
I have a pretty nice one that I have only spent about $5k modding, after taking into account the money I sold the take-off parts for. I have:
996 five spoke 18" wheels
big reds
H&R springs on Bilstein HD's
C2S split grille
RS shifter and handbrake
Fabspeed MaxFlows
Steve Wong strut brace
Ruf spoiler control module
Carbon fiber heater bypass tube
Of course, the accident damage repair and full respray ran about 5x as much as I had put into it in mods, but that's another story.

I,ve spent about $5k over the last 3 years for an RS tail, splitters, Fikse FM-10 wheels, ROW M030 suspension, Fabspeed cat bypass, RSR mufflers, and various interior upgrades. I bought a lot of these things used from fellow Rennlisters.
The slope, or should I say cliff was quick and deep. The previous owner spent about $5k (US) for wheels, interior trim. I went deep with the super charger/install to the tune of about $15k (US)! That said.... I am a most Very Happy 993'er with a very fast P-car.
Bottom line, it is what makes you happy!!!! what ever the mods, or how you use your car. Enjoy it to the max every day.

I agree that mods are an individual thing. Cost...More than my wife knows!!
1. Color changed the interior from blue to black.
2. Three spoke steering wheel
3. Bird armrest.
4. Bilstein HD shocks.
5. ROW M030 Springs and Sway Bars.
6. Front Protection Bar.
7. Motor Sound Airbox.
8. Supercup Exhaust.
9. Manual Oil Cooler Fan Switch
10. Boot on Tiptronic Shifter
11. Hard Back Sports Seats
12. HID Headlights
13. DSP Amp and Control Unit

I'm just back from a intens testdrive with a TT. I like it but i'm not convinced to make the switch. My first impressions are that it's faster (not extremely faster I must say) but the handling is really different. It feels sooo heavy in the corners. I've concluded that I will keep my car and go for perfection.
These are the things that I will change in the near future.
- Rear seat delete
- Leather sparco seats
- 3 spoke steering wheel
- Rennsport motor mounts
- Bump steer conversion kit
- Rennsport adjustable anti roll bars
The question is after this work how the car will feel? Is the weight reduction in the combination with the mods going to make a noticable change or is it not worth it?

Hehe,
Tell you what! Get the RS and transplant some of your goodies perhaps since your engine is the RS spec. You said that yourengine is more powerful than the RS. What mods have you got on it (I see a few things you have on it)? Perhaps the RSCS without any electric goodies may be your answer

My 1995 car spent the first 7 years of its life with the previous owner who dutifully maintained the car in a minimum fashion. He added a 3.6 RS wing and didnt keep the original parts (go figure). When I purchased the car with 35K miles in Jan 2003, I had the wiring harness changed, updated the pully, new belts.
Upgrades since:
18in hollowspoke wheels & MPSCs
TRG swaybars & PSS9s
3 spoke steering wheel
CDR 210
Funny, I dont even feel like I've even started down the slippery slope - everything I've done has been in the spirit of good maintenance.

PSS9 and 18" wheels are the beginning of a little slide in the slippery slope....
The problem with these cars is that there are so many mods that you can do and it's fun to do of course.
I also thought after installing a PSS9 kit and some 18" wheels that I was ok for the future but look at my list after 1.5 year of ownership
1 thing is sure and that is that I really love my 993 and the quest for perfection will go on....
