993 rennlist newbie says hello from the uk !
hello all....
just heard about your site after a few months of 993 ownership.. 1996 993 Targa and LHD even here in RHD England !
although i'm a regular across at 911uk.com, didn't realise there were so many brits overe here as well. !!!
still early days...... clearly my car spec is in need to upgrading, done some bits so far..... but here is the list..
Targa
1996
LHD
Manual
Black
Red rear lenses
Front clear Lenses
Clear side indicators
17" Targa Alloys
RS 1a Aero Package (I think) the one with the RS front splitters and side skirts
Tinted Rear side windows
Sports Exhaust
Strut Brace
Short-Shifter
Sports Air Box with K&N air filiter
Continential Sports (front) & Sport II (rear) Tyres (although IMHO are very poor for wet handling)
Amourfend on the front (but not the bonnet)
Osram Silverstar bulbs
Black Leather
Black Dash
Aluminum Gear Lever & Handbrake
Silver Dials Bezels
Becker Traffic Pro High Speed Sat Nav system (with Navteq V3.2 discs)
Road Angel Classic (hard wired in)
3rd rear brake in rear window (custom made)
Sony Ericsson Phone Kit
Twin Cupholders
Think I've covered most of it...... !

as for my plans for 2005, which you can say is ok, interesting or wrong ! ? !
Next upgrades for 2005 : (in the following order, I think!)
Techart Brake cooling brake duct kit
Infinity Speaker System
Pioneer Stereo Amplifier (under the passenger seat)
Mp3 sytem linked to the Becker (Can it be done?)
Michelin Pilot Sport Tyres
Xenon Headlamps
Zymol coating(s) when it is a bit warmer (for both me & the wax!)
H&R or Bilstein Suspension with M030 Shocks
Stainless door sill guards
Red Callipers (do I paint them or change 'em ?)
New brake disc & pads all round (esp Pads that don't squeak!)
it is indeed a slippery slope !

Sundeep -
Welcome to our side of the pond.
These cars are a special kind of sickness that fortunately does'nt have much of a cure.
Wondering why you want to spend money on audio / stereo stuff when the best music comes from the engine bay at about 4500 - 6500 RPM??
Consider a Rennlist Membership - it will be the best 18 or so pounds you'll spend in two years.
Again, Welcome to the club!

yes ! the sound track of the air cooled engine is great, the burbling is asazimg...but I can't spend my entire life going up and down from 3000-6000rpm ! I have tried...
So I'm looking to finish upgrading my entire Car Audio system.... but having had a quality Bose sound system in my last car, I prob' feel the difference more.....the 993 set up that I have is, well a bit weak, put it this way, what's in the mrs' VW polo is better ! I've already replaced my Porsche CR21 head unit with a Sat Nav Becker Traffic Pro which made a difference..
but for such a legend, I think a superior audio system is a must.. but I have question on that on later !
membership ?? did I miss that.. rather what am I missing..??

Most of the full timers here are members, not that it is mandatory. The folks who run the site are not paid employees, they are not selling anything, thus the gentle request from members to join up! This site, especially for 993s is well traveled by some very smart and talented people. The cost of membership is well worth it.
