My supercharger will be done this Friday <fingers crossed>.
I will post my results as soon as it's done. I may not be able to give a very good review because a few things extra are being done....
Port and polished heads, Bronze sleeves for the valve guides (factory ones had premature wear which is common on 993s), multi angle valve job and new cams for force inducted motors (already have soild lifters).
All this is giving me a Est 450+ HP. The supercharger is alone bolt on 100HP roughly.
Stay tuned

The TPC supercharger is not legal in California on a 993, but the car will pass the emissions portion of the test; it fails the visual. I asked The Racers Group, who has installed several of them, the question about smog tests. They said their clients have never come back with a problem and they suspect you need to find a gas station where they don't know that 993's weren't supercharged.

I have had the TPC charger on my 993 for 17,000 miles. Other than a few minor installation glitches I have had no problems. I use the car as a weekend street ride. I do spin the tires and drive it as hard as the "conditions" permit.

Can't you just slip a Benjamin while shaking the mechanic's hand? Ask him to look the other way.

I know track time is a big issue that many people are waiting to hear about before jumping on the supercharger band wagon. I was at a DE this past weekend, and one of the instructors I was riding with was talking about a prior DE and a 993 that kept cruising by at ungodly speeds. I didn't get many details, but it was the first time that I've heard of a supercharged track car. The guy telling the story was deeply impressed with the performance. I don't know any more than that.

Maybe it's too simplified, but I use this logic.
1) Supercharging is relatively inexpensive and readily available to anyone who wants to spend the money.
2) There are very few, if any, supercharged 993's racing, and only one that we know of at DE's. The low number isn't due to cost, because we all know many people who have spent wayyyy more than a supercharger would have cost.
3) It's been around for a long time, and if it's reliable and works I think many more people would be using it on the track by now.

I have talked to TPC about the supercharger for the Boxster. I specifically asked them about if it could be used on the track and they said NO. They kept saying for high performance street driving!! Needless to say, I did not get it.

Just an observation............
Would you buy a used 993 equipped with a supercharger?
If you answered no, you probably don't want to put one on your own car.
A friend of mine supercharged his 911SC. This guy was a qualified mechanical engineer who worked closely with his supplier to develop the system. What a nightmare! Besides all the niggling little problems (like the belt jumping off), I'll bet he reduced the engine life by at least 50%. You just can't raise the BMEP of a stock engine that much without losing durability and reliability.
Another poster put it best: fast, reliable, and cheap. You can only have two!
