Default Interesting wheel alignment

This morning, I started my C4S, backed out of my garage, turned the wheels fully to the left to get on my driveway, and to my big surprise, the car went STRAIGHT with the steering wheel locked to the left....

I somehow broke something on the steering rack. The left wheel turns OK but the right one is basically free to rotate! I'm very lucky this did not happened at speed!

Is this a common 993 issue? I track the car on slicks and suspect it is harder on the car. Is there other, up rated part that I should use?

Thanks

Arnaud

Arnaud,

Sorry to hear about that. I have it on good authority that the previous owner (Suwipin) was very hard on the car, so this doesn't surprise me. I hope it turns out to be something minor, and inexpensive to fix.

By the way, I finally found the toolkit for the car. If you still want it, send me an email.

I'd bet you just broke a tie rod (dunno if there is a fancy Porsche name for these). Have you jacked it up and looked? They aren't hidden at all, and wouldn't be difficult to replace. That makes sense, especially since the other wheel turns.

all three owners of that car are nuts, the first one drives sideways, the 2nd one drives in circles, the third drives on slicks..... go figure.

Arnaud, given how you go through Turn 2 at LS, I'm not surprised (turn, gas, scrub, more gas )
