Thanks!

When the Sylvania Silverstars are blinking amber, they look fine. However, when they are not on, they have an irridescent bluish hue to them that looks very...shall I say "ricey". Instead, get the chrome look bulbs through Bekkers Imports. They are costlier but look sooooo much better. They are 2357A-C.

I just finished the change from amber to clear lenses. I think its a better look on a silver car.

Purchased the shortened lenses (Yes, I have bumperettes) from www.departstop.com. To be quite honest, they weren't cut right and the silicone was applied in a way that wasn't up to my exacting standards, so I reworked them with a Dremel and figured out a way to avoid the excess silicone in the lense when still sealing them. No problems with the vendor....they would have taken them back--no hassle. I just decided to try my hand at it.
I have one of the few american cars out there with sidemarkers, so I changed those as well. I silvered the tips of those amber bulbs with high heat silver paint.

IMO, if you don't change the bulbs, you lose the desired clean look. Sylvania 1157A ST SliverStar or Philips PY21W SilverVision.

Much of my research was done right here on this forum. Many thanks to those responsible for the great posts. Membership is well worth it.( Just have to figure out how to embed pictures ) therefore I'll post pictures later.

I am interested in the silver hood badge, and the wheel center caps with the red 4's....Can someone post the info on acquiring those?

Default the picture

The sylvania bulbs have a bluish tint. The philips do not. Apparently nor do those in a previous post.
(John D. Sorry for the email...I figured it out.)

For those looking for silver bulbs that blink amber, just spray some 1157 amber bulbs w/ a light coat of high heat silver paint. That's what I did to mine and the bulbs have stood up just fine w/o problems. Cheap, quick and easy... how much better does it get?

Clears on the front all the way. Clear front and red back look great on silver cars. I'm biased!

Cheers,

Thumbs up

Dennis, I might be at late on this post but the clear ones looks way better specially on your silver car. How much did you spend in getting your bumper refiberglassed to cover the holes for the bumperettes or did you get the car already with the bumper already like that?

Great post. It's mostly all been done and said before, but what hasn't? I can't remember everything I hear and see, so it's fun to see it all again, reposted, rehashed, reconfigured, re-explained for new people, and with all new pics sometimes.

Time to get me some of that silver paint - you said it was #1157... what brand paint is that and do you just get it at an auto supply store like Advance Auto? Or, is it listed somewhere else in this thread and I've just forgotten the info?

Thanks,
Steve

Oh, by the way... silver - oh yeah. Nice color.
