It needs it. I have a friend with a 350hp 2004 GTO and at GingerMan the wife's Neon walked the dog on him like he was bolted to the ground.

Chevy's doing ok with the 500hp Z06 too (much lighter and better handling than Viper)

I hope none of them give up. Not saying that I'd give up what I have but this new age muscle car stuff has me excited about what will be coming out in the next few years. I've been looking down my nose at all the cheap Detroit crap for years and I'm glad to see something better these days. The Z06 pics on the OT board is one of the best looking Vettes there has been for decades. The next Mustang Cobra will be breathing fire and there has been talk about a retro look Camaro/Firebird in the coming years. I don't know about you guys but I grew up in the 70's and 80's and the cars that we dreamed about were mostly American Iron w/ some 930's sprinkled in. I say bring it on. The horsepower wars are great for car enthusiasts.

Excuse me I'm gonna go grow a mullet so I'll look cool in my 2007 royal blue metallic Z28 with t-tops

I absolutely LOVE the HP wars. Don't get me wrong I love my 993 like no other but the sound and feel of a meaty american V8 is like heaven. The new Z06 has me looking at a vette for the first time in my life. That car is going to be hard to beat, 1/4 mile or on a track and all for 65k......

I have seen some posts on a corvette board were guys bought 04 GTO's for right at $20k.... Pretty good value for that car if it drives half as good as the specs look.

Gotta let you know when us Aussies get something right. Corvette motor though if I remember correctly. They sell them as Vauxhall Monaro VXR's in the UK also. Absolutely heaps of Monaro's on the roads over here. I wish the same could be said for 993's, so the search for one would be a bit easier. And cheaper!

cheers

I saw the GTO at the San Diego Autoshow here on the 30th of December. I don't mind it that much, but I'm sure that there are some out there where that car makes their boats float. Sorry, but I belong here in the third reich

Stig, I know you're kidding but this is not the third reich by any stretch of the imagination.

We have the Holden badged as a Vauxhall Monaro and it has been well recieved because it's a lot of car for the money. I can't wait for when they are about five years old and dirt cheap....

Cheers,

David
